Was designed by a Cornish Naval architect and built in Falmouth in Cornwall and completed in 2002 as a purpose - built gill netter. The level of safety and protection the new vessel was able to provide for the skipper and crew is by far our greatest asset. The silver dawn had a major refit in 2015 when we made lots of hull improvements so to save fuel and further reduce our carbon footprint. The refit included fitting the very latest of electronically controlled Caterpillar Diesel engine to meet the latest emission standards that are IMO Tier II. This represents approximately a 20% reduction in NOx from the previous requirement.
